well... here it goes...
this is me, or an introduction to me, I suppose it is time since I have been putting this off for weeks..

I've never blogged or really written anything about myself, so this will be interesting..

I guess I should start with my name, I'm Melody Brewer, some people call me Mel, either one works :)
I'm from Springfield, Illinois (the Simpsons, Abraham Lincoln, to name a few of our celebrities) but right now I'm living in sunny San Diego going to school.
I'm a sophomore at Point Loma Nazarene University, and I'm a Biblical Studies major.

No, I don't necessarily want to be a pastor, unless God changes something (I hear He does that occasionally..wink), I actually want to be a missionary to Tanzania (ya know, that country that we are going to? ha)
Like one of our other teammates, I work at Starbucks, and I as well do NOT like Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I'm more of a peppermint mocha frappuccino girl :)
I kind of feel like I'm posting an info section on a dating website or something, so as far as my hobbies, I e
njoy long walks on the beach at sunset, candlelit dinners, and everthing else cliche... haha just kidding. What really gets my blood pumping is serving our Lord and Savior. That's something I have a hard time with though because if I had it my way, I would just always be out doing doing doing. So God has been teaching me this semester that it is also so important to just be ..to simply rest in His presence and let Him sing over you. That's where the title of this blog comes from, my favorite verse: Zephaniah 3:17.

"The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."

This verse continually blows my mind. I could preach about this for a while, but I don't think now is the time, we'll have four months for that haha.
Okay. Let's wrap this up. The "important stuff" as Nick said we are supposed to write about :)

  • I don't have any tattooes, being old with a tattoo really really freaks me out
  • I used to be / still kind of am terrified of any insect or spider, like we're talking ants and butterflies, they freak me out. But, this semester I can say that I have successfully killed four spiders in our dorms, and I didn't even scream :)
  • I have fat thumbs. Recently I actually found out that there is a scientific name for my thumbs: Brachydactyly type D. Haha. Google it.

A few other thoughts before I stop typing..
Although I've only been on one "official" mission trip, to Juarez, Mexico, I feel like I've been on way more. I have three siblings, all older, a brother who lives in Vienna, Austria as a missionary, and two sisters, both married with kid(s), who live in Idaho and California. My parents are still in Illinois so we're kind of spread out around the world. I am more excited for this trip than words can express. For so long now I have felt like Africa, specifically Tanzania, is where I am "supposed to be." I can't really explain it, but I just know that is where God has called me. One of my professors says that I have Africa in my blood :) I cannot wait to get there, I might never leave ha.

Okay, I'd better stop now. I love you all even though I don't even know you and I am constantly praying for yall (sometimes I'm a bit country). Let me know of specific things I can be praying for you. I cannot wait to meet you guys. Africa cannot come soon enough :)
