Things are so different in Africa. I know, it's one of those facts that is like, no duh Joanna, you're on the other side of the world. But there's a difference between knowing and understanding. Honestly I struggled with writing this blog because I feel like words cannot exprewss what this place is. Just take all yourideas of Africa that you got from Lion King and throw them out the window.
Right now we are in this little town in Uganda called Malaba. Houses, huts, shacks, markets are all thrown together and around every corner is another doorway into the world of a community that lives one day at a time. As we walk through town doing door to door, or sometimes hut to hut, ministry the locals all stare at the "muzungus." But when you wave and greet them in their native language, their serious unsmiling faces light up.
It's another one of those things that you can know but not understand. Everything can be different about a location but people are people! I can relate to them in the same ways I get to know people back home. It's amazing to see how smiles and encouragement are universal, no matter the local language.
So for you guys back at home, how are you encouraging the people in your life?
